It’s National Foot Health Awareness Month

April is National Foot Health Awareness Month, and with warm weather rapidly approaching, it’s also the time of year when people trade winter boots for sandals. Improving Your Foot Health

Nearly every activity you perform throughout the day involves being on your feet, so keeping them healthy and pain-free should be prioritized. To keep your feet healthy beyond National Foot Health Awareness Month, our team would like to share some tips for developing healthy habits and keeping your feet pain-free:

Proper Footwear – As the temperature rises, wearing the right footwear is one of the best ways to keep your feet healthy. Avoid high heels and flip flops and opt for shoes with more support.
Avoid walking barefoot – If you’re going to be in public places this spring and summer, avoid walking barefoot to prevent cuts, plantar warts, and athlete’s foot.
Suncare – Your feet need sun protection too! Apply sunscreen on your feet, between your toes, and on your ankles to avoid sunburn and prevent skin cancer, as it can be easy to overlook and miss on this area of the body.

Visit a podiatrist – If you suffer a foot or ankle injury or get an infection, Dr. Hochstein is here to help! The sooner you seek podiatric treatment, the better the outcome. Untreated foot problems can negatively impact your overall health, so being proactive about your foot health is crucial to avoid long-term complications!
