What is Laser Nail Treatment?

The FDA has approved laser therapy. Nine times out of Ten, this procedure requires more than one session for the patient to recuperate fully. It can also take anywhere between 6 to 18 months for the full effective treatment. Caution is necessary as this treatment is certainly not for everyone. Some side effects can include internal pain and bleeding. How it operates consists of lasers generating heat that penetrates the toenail into the fungus. The fungus responds to the immense heat by breaking down and decomposing. In addition to eliminating the existing fungus, it also has a sterilizing effect, which prevents the fungus from growing back. Onychomycosis is more likely to occur in the summer when the heat and moisture in the air can breed the fungal organism. Nobody is immune to catching the fungus; however, people with circulatory disorders and/or have compromised immune systems are more likely to catch this fungus.
